| Administrative health data containing information on COVID-19 case and contact management in Ontario. The Health Protection and Promotion Act requires that each public health unit in Ontario collect information about people with diseases of public health significance (reportable diseases), including COVID-19, in their jurisdiction and report it to the Ministry of Health (MOH). In July/August 2020, COVID-19 cases in the integrated Public Health Information System (iPHIS) in Ontario were migrated over to CCM with key reporting elements. iPHIS continues to be used for collecting information on all other reportable diseases in Ontario. Data are from the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health in Ontario. |
| CCM is central data repository used for COVID-19 case and contact management and reporting in Ontario. This information is used for local, provincial and national surveillance. These data were provided to ICES under section 45 of PHIPA and may only be used for the "purpose of analysis or compiling statistical information with respect to the management of, evaluation or monitoring of, the allocation of resources to or planning for all or part of the health system. |
| The Health Protection and Promotion Act requires that each public health unit in Ontario collect information about people with diseases of public health significance (reportable diseases), including COVID-19, in their jurisdiction and report it to the Ministry of Health (MOH). The numbers of cases of COVID-19 in CCM is an underestimate of the actual numbers since not all people with COVID-19 develop symptoms, seek medical treatment or testing, and therefore, the disease goes unreported. |
