DASH services are provided by a coordination team from various HDRN Canada Member Organizations — provincial and territorial data centres as well pan-Canadian organizations, including the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) and Statistics Canada. The DASH Team supports researchers seeking multi-regional health data, offering step-by-guidance throughout the data access process. Other critical resources provided by DASH include the Data Assets Inventory and the Algorithms Inventory.

DASH does not hold any data. Rather, DASH helps researchers access data held by data centres and repositories that are members of HDRN Canada. DASH cannot pool data from multiple provinces or organizations into a central location due to legislative or policy limitations unless they already exist at CIHI or StatCan. However, the DASH Team can facilitate conversations between data centres and researchers to support parallel and federated analyses.

Data requests that require only pan-Canadian data from CIHI or Statistics Canada should be directed to CIHI’s Make a Data Request page or StatCan’s Access to Microdata page. Please email dash@hdrn.ca if you are unsure whether data held at CIHI or StatCan can meet your needs or if you require data from more than one HDRN Canada Member Organization.
