DASH aims to:

  • Provide transparent and readily available information on the availability of data assets, common algorithms, and data access processes
  • Provide coordinated data access support to researchers
  • Collect feedback for meaningful DASH performance reporting and continuous process improvement
  • Over time, harmonize, streamline, and automate the multi-jurisdictional data access process in Canada where possible.

DASH services are provided by a multi-centre coordination team from various provincial/territorial data centres and pan-Canadian organizations, including the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) and Statistics Canada.

DASH supports and respects OCAP® (Ownership, Control, Access and Possession) Principles when requesting, accessing and using First Nations data, as set out by the First Nations Information Governance Centre (FNIGC). Learn more.

Ongoing Activities:

As we continue to develop DASH, we will be making improvements. These include:

  • Translation of the Data Assets, Data Access Processes and multi-jurisdictional Algorithms inventories into French
  • Increase the quantity and level of detail in the inventories
  • Enhanced search functions for the inventories
