Health Data Research Network Canada (HDRN Canada, the “Corporation”) is recruiting for additional directors for the Corporation’s inaugural Board that will play a formative role in shaping how the network grows and evolves over time. This is a volunteer Board and each director shall serve without remuneration, with necessary expenses reimbursed by the Corporation.
In accordance with the Bylaws of the Corporation, directors of the Board will be appointed by election or acclamation at the annual meeting of members, currently scheduled for May 2021. New directors will serve a maximum of two consecutive three- year terms, or six consecutive years, whichever comes first*. Subject to a Board Resolution providing otherwise, the Board will meet at least four times per year.
The Board will recruit members with diverse perspectives and life experience across geography, languages, culture, ethnicity, gender and other factors. The Board will have the capacity to conduct its work in English and French, and will have the infrastructure (e.g., live simultaneous interpretation services) to support the full involvement of directors who speak French.
In particular, HDRN Canada is looking for directors with a focus on the following skills, competencies and experiences:
- Legal skills
- Financial skills
- Grant and research funding experience
- Geographic representation
- Francophone representation

* Directors will hold office until the end of the annual meeting of members that occurs three years after they are appointed, after which they will be re-elected for a second term or replaced by an incoming director. If members are confirmed prior to the next meeting of members, their first term will exceed three years.
